Books for My Hogwarts House:
1. The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
While I was going through the books I have read and how they relate to Gryffindor, this was my first choice. Unfortunately, while there are many reasons this book reflects the traits of a Gryffindor, my sole purpose for choosing it was Aslan. I was proud of myself for not overthinking for once.
2. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
Gryffindor House members are brave much like Starr in The Hate U Give. To be a Gryffindor, you have to have some strong ovaries/or balls depending on your gender. Starr has some strong ovaries to stick up to the man like she did in The Hate U Give.
3. Ask Me No Questions by Marina Budhos
Nadira reminds me of the female Neville. She is underestimated often and no one really pays attention to her unless she is messing up. However, in a pinch she is the one who keeps it together.
4. Never Fall Down by Patricia McCormick
Arn’s journey through life after his home has been invaded by a communist regime takes a lot of guts and brains. Arn has to be smart, brave, chivalrous, and charismatic all at once in order to stay alive. His journey is literally the horrific version of Harry’s home life.
5. The Fifth Son by Elie Wiesel
The more time I spend reflecting on this book, the more I realize how epic it actually is. The story of two generations coming together to avenge what they lost. The journey in this book actually was an adventurous one, however it takes time for me to unpack all that occurred in this book. I think embarking on any adventure is a sign of courage.
What is your house and what are your house books?
