Stop Failing at Goodreads: A How To Guide

When I think about or even open my Goodreads account, the first thing to pop in my head is “We’re going down, down in an earlier round and Sugar we’re going down swinging.” (If you didn’t sing it, I am judging you so go back and sing the song!) Why would fall Out Boy’s debut single pop into my head when I open Goodreads? Because I have legit been struggling with keeping up with what the heck I am reading!

Pike Lawson

Welcome to the first Monday of June. I don’t know about where you live but here in Texas, it’s hot. So in order to help with your heat, I am thoughtful enough to add more flames to your fire with my man crush Monday.
I already semi-introduced you guys to Pike Lawson when I did my review of Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas but a lot of people were concerned about the levels of taboo, I decided to introduce him separately.

Unique Blogger Book Tag

I was nominated by the Terri for the Unique Blogger Award. She is very gracious and kind and a fantastic blogger as well as a dope editor. She introduced me to different books and searched For me when I go AWOL which is much appreciated! If you are unfamiliar with her, you should rectify that! For this tag, I am going to take the road led travelled and tag anyone who reads this post. There’s some chain letter action for you!

BIRTHDAY GIRL BY PENELOPE DOUGLAS

Title: Birthday Girl
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Author: Penelope Douglas
Release Date: April 17, 2018

Synopsis:

JORDAN

He took me in when I had nowhere else to go.

He doesn’t use me, hurt me, or forget about me. He doesn’t treat me like I’m nothing, take me for granted, or make me feel unsafe.

He remembers me, laughs with me, and looks at me. He listens to me, protects me, and sees me. I can feel his eyes on me over the breakfast table, and my heart pumps so hard when I hear him pull in the driveway after work.

I have to stop this. It can’t happen.

My sister once told me there are no good men, and if you find one, he’s probably unavailable.

Only Pike Lawson isn’t the unavailable one.

I am.

PIKE

I took her in, because I thought I was helping.

She’d cook a few meals and clean up a little. It was an easy arrangement.

As the days go by, though, it’s becoming anything but easy. I have to stop my mind from drifting to her and stop holding my breath every time I bump into her in the house. I can’t touch her, and I shouldn’t want to.

The more I find my path crossing hers, though, the more she’s becoming a part of me.

But we’re not free to give into this. She’s nineteen, and I’m thirty-eight.

And her boyfriend’s father.

Unfortunately, they both just moved into my house.
